KOI CLUBS
North East Koi Club
The North East Koi Club, was founded in 1975, as part of
the British Koi Keepers’ Society (BKKS) and grew in
strength alongside the ‘hobby’. Our membership covers
the whole, North East of England, from as far South as
Durham and Teeside, to the Borders of Scotland, a
distance of 94 miles as the crow flies, and as far East
from Sunderland, on the East Coast, to the Pennine Way,
on the border with the Lake District. There are members,
who have been with the club, since its foundation.
As with every other Koi club, members come from every
walk of life, and their ponds come in every type of format
used in Koi keeping, from ‘simple’ liner ponds, to large
professionally built Koi ponds, and indoor ponds.
Particularly for the newcomer, there is expert advice
available in all matters regarding Koi, particularly
construction, filtration and health. A major advantage is
the expert access to Koi health advice. This of course
can be an advantage to even the experienced Koi
keeper.
The club has an ongoing friendship with other Koi clubs
around the country, and frequently exchanges visits with
them. Our monthly meetings are held at 7.30pm on the
first Wednesday of each month at The Lambton Arms
Hotel, Front Street, Chester le Street, Co Durham DH3
3BJ, with regular guest speakers, presentation nights,
Q&A sessions, and demonstrations. Also member’s pond
visits, photographic shows, Open Koi & Bonsai show,
dealers trips and club exchange visits.
We welcome new members to share our hobby,
and if you would like to join our club then contact
Stephen Grey, our Chairman, on 07917 702432 or
