KOI CLUB NEWS
Nottingham & District Koi Keepers (N&DKK)
The N&DKK have recently had a talk on Bonsai care by
club member Kevin Wynne and an ‘open house’
microscope evening. The latter was particularly
successful as we’ve acquired several new members to
the club and they asked for help with this. It is
interesting that this koi keeping goes round in a circle
eventually, with new folks needing to learn skills as we
did before. It was a very useful revision exercise for
many of us as well.
The following summer months’ meetings will be held at
members’ ponds so should be an interesting source of
ideas for us all. We have a Photo Show on the weekend
of 8th and 9th of September with Alan Tait as our judge.
We’re hoping some of our newer members can be
encouraged to put their heads above the parapet so to
speak and have a go at showing – in the safety of their
own garden!
We always learn a lot from these events and it gives us
all a chance to see what others are getting up to with
their ponds and koi.
South East Koi Club
We held our Annual General Meeting on 22nd April when
our whole committee was re-elected.
David Brown read the Chairman’s Review of the year’s
activities and Mick Preston, our Show Chairman, reported
that the Show had been a success, also Mick announced
that he had managed to secure 11th and 12th May for
next year’s All England Young Koi Show which I know will
meet with everyone’s approval, particularly the Koi
Dealers who take stand space at our Show.
Once again, thanks to all the Koi Keepers, Koi Clubs and
Koi Dealers who supported our Young Koi Show and we
look forward to meeting you again at the coming Koi
Shows during the summer and at our All England Koi
Show on 22nd and 23rd September.
