                                                                                                                 Kyoto – Part Three


                                                                                                                 Stephen and Anthony have been keeping Koi since
                                                                                                                 2003 and have been visiting Japan since 2006, more
                                                                                                                 recently visiting southern Japan. As well as visiting
                                                                                                                 Koi breeders and their farms they enjoy the adventure
                                                                                                                 of travelling around and exploring the sites Japan has
                                                                                                                 to offer.
                                                                                                                 This is Kyoto – Part Three, our fourth instalment of our
                                                                                                                 series of articles ‘Our Travels in Japan’ – if you have

                                                                                                                 Kyoto is a fantastic city, as mentioned in our last article
                                                                                                                 there is so much to see – and being only 1 hour 15
                                                                                                                 minutes train journey from Kansai International Airport
                                                                                                                 is usually our first stop on our travel itinerary. We
                                                                                                                 normally spend a few days here depending on our
                                                                                                                 itinerary before moving on to our other destinations
                                                                                                                 in Japan.
                                                                                                                 Throughout our articles we will be sharing our
                                                                                                                 experiences, but also add some facts and history. So
                                                                                                                 on that note, Kyoto served as Japan’s capital and the
                                                                                                                 emperor’s residence from 794 until 1868 and is one of
                                                                                                                 Japan’s ten largest cities. It is just steeped in history
                                                                                                                 and is famous for its many classical Buddhist temples,
                                                                                                                 gardens, imperial palaces, Shinto Shrines, and
                                                                                                                 traditional wooden houses. Kyoto not only has one
                                                                                                                 UNESCO World Heritage Site like most cities but has
                                                                                                                 17!! Meaning it has one of the largest collections of
                                                                                                                 World Heritage Sites in the world, hence why there is
                                                                                                                 plenty to see and do!
