CROUCH VALLEY
KOI SHOW 2019
Judith Wiseman
The Crouch Valley Koi Show is a well-known Show in
the country. We have a long history of organising both
Open and Closed Shows. After a two year absence
from the Show circuit we are thrilled to be back with a
very different Show. Both clubs and dealers have to
re-imagine the format for Koi Shows without wet fish
sales. We think that our new Show format will be
WE ARE BACK successful for both Koi keepers and Koi dealers. We
WITH A VERY have moved to a very exciting new venue, Buckhatch
Nursery & Garden Centre (more commonly known as
DIFFERENT BHN) at Rettendon Common near Chelmsford, Essex.
This large and very popular garden centre offered a
SHOW built in retail audience. What better way to spend a day
out for all the family enjoying the Koi on display,
chatting to dealers and picking up those essential items
for their pond and fish. All this, plus free entrance and
plants too.
The venue is close to the M25 and A12. BHN is a very
close neighbour of RHS Hyde Hall. This great new
location gives us an opportunity to build on our already
strong gate as we re-establish the Show as one of the
top Shows of the year. We hope we are putting Crouch
Valley back on the Show circuit again.
As a BKKS section we follow the same judging formats
in relation to classification and size but have some icing
on our cake. We have added a classification, the ‘Doitsu
Variety’. This is a separate competition with its own set
of winners; Best Doitsu, First and Second in Size. Apart
from the Kohaku classification with twenty nine entries
Grand Champion,
Size 7 Sanke, owned by across five sizes, the Doitsu competition was the most
